The tables above list Apple’s own online store prices, converted to US dollars at the current exchange rate and refreshed twice a day. Every storage option is shown, because the price steps between 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB differ by country — the cheapest country for the 256 GB model is not always the cheapest for 1 TB. Click a country for all models, the local price and the tax that is included.
Before you plan a trip around the cheapest row, check four things that change the real cost.
1. Is tax included in the price?
- United States and Canada: apple.com shows prices before sales tax (marked “+ tax at checkout” in the table). The final price depends on the state or province. Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon have no statewide sales tax (local taxes can still apply).
- Almost everywhere else (EU, UK, Switzerland, Japan, Australia, Turkey…) the price already includes VAT, GST or consumption tax.
- Hong Kong has no sales tax, so the listed price is the final price.
2. Can you get the tax back as a visitor?
- European Union: if you live outside the EU, you can reclaim VAT when you take the phone out of the EU within three months of purchase. You need a tax-free form from the shop and a customs stamp at departure. The minimum purchase per shop is set by each country, and refund companies deduct a fee. Ask the shop before paying whether it issues tax-free forms. EU residents are not eligible.
- United Kingdom: tax-free shopping for visitors ended in Great Britain on 1 January 2021. Shops can only sell VAT-free if they ship the goods directly to an address outside the UK.
- Japan: from 1 November 2026, visitors pay the full price including the 10% consumption tax and get it back after customs confirms the export when leaving Japan. Purchases must leave Japan within 90 days.
- United States: there is no sales tax refund for international visitors.
Then count the other side: your home country may charge import VAT or customs duty above your duty-free allowance. In Turkey, a phone bought abroad also has to be registered (IMEI) and a fee paid within 120 days, otherwise it is cut off from mobile networks.
3. Warranty: where can you get it repaired?
Apple’s limited warranty states that Apple “may restrict warranty service for iPhone … to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device”. In practice, a phone bought in Japan or the US may not be repairable under warranty in your home country. In the EU, the seller is also legally liable for defects for at least two years (Directive (EU) 2019/771). Keep the receipt either way.
4. Model differences: eSIM only or a SIM tray?
We checked the specification page of every Apple country store. The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max differ by country:
| Version | Countries |
|---|---|
| eSIM only (no SIM tray) | United States, Canada, Mexico, Japan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia |
| Two physical nano-SIMs | Mainland China |
| nano-SIM + eSIM | UK, EU countries we track, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey, Ukraine, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Chile, Colombia |
The iPhone Duo is eSIM only in every country we checked. Before buying an eSIM-only model, make sure your carrier at home supports eSIM. The US model is also the only one with mmWave 5G — which matters mostly inside the US.
Checklist
- Compare the storage you actually want, not only the 256 GB price.
- Add sales tax for the US and Canada.
- Subtract a VAT refund only if you are eligible, and subtract the refund company’s fee.
- Add your home country’s import taxes and registration fees.
- Check warranty service in your country and SIM / eSIM support at your carrier.
